Turo Nurmikko is Professor in Pain Relief at the Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust in Liverpool where he directs several research projects on neuropathic pain. He is Past President of the Neuropathic Pain Special Interest Group (IASP) (2000-2005). He is a member of several international committees on classification, assessment, practice guidelines and systematic reviews for trigeminal neuralgia. He established a multidisciplinary facial pain clinic in the early 2000s at the Walton Centre and has a particular interest in developing neurostimulation techniques for neuropathic pain. In the last year he has received grant monies for research and/or honoraria for speaking from NIHR, Pain Relief Foundation, Bernhard Lewis Family Charitable Foundation, Astellas, Nexstim, Abide and Mundipharm.
