Abstract:

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to confirm the content validity and understanding of questions for the Korean version of Caries Management by Risk Assessment (CAMBRA).

Methods: To develop the Korean version of CAMBRA for children age 0-6, a series of steps were taken. First, translation and reverse-translation processes were conducted by an expert committee. To establish the content validity, a modification process was taken by 17 dental hygiene professionals who have a master’s degree or higher for adaptation on the Korean circumstance. Answers were analyzed using analysis of frequency and descriptive statistics. Content validity was verified by calculating the Content Validity Index( CVI). Finally, 64 mothers and caregivers were surveyed on the understanding of questions for the Korea version of CAMBRA.

Results: The content validity of each items showed a mean CVI of .79, indicating overall valid. However, the content validities were quite different from each other ranging from .63 to 1.0. The understanding of each question ranged from 3.56 to 4.46 showing favorable results.

Conclusions: It was concluded that the test items contained the appropriate content validity to assess the caries risk for children age 0-6. It will contribute to the improvement of children’s oral health and disease prevention by providing timely intervention in Korea.
