Seq# 113 - Funding for Biomedical Research: Global Perspectives and Future Prospects
This session will be recorded and available through IADR CE On Demand after the meeting for Continuing Education Credit.
We live in a golden era of unprecedented advances in science and technogy when the landscape for funding has shifted due to competing demands placed on government agencies worldwide. Knowledge about the current and future status of funding for biomedical research is critical to IADR members with research programs that rely on steady sources of funding. The goals of this symposium are to inform the audience of emergent areas in biomedical research that are of high impact to oral health and to transfer information about the types of grants that are available to biomedical researchers around the world. Topics will be of interest to a broad audience of dental reserach faculty, trainees, clinicans and educators.
- To become knowledgable of the funding mechanisms and opportunities for international research collaborations for biomedical and public health research in the North American, Latin American, Pan European, Asian-Pacific and African & Middle East Regions
- To understand priorities and imperatives for funding that are guided by public health concerns and at-risk populations within each region.
- To identify funding mechanisms that lend themselves to collaborations between regions, countries and divisions and that support the missions of IADR globally. Topics covered should generate interest in collaborative grant proposals as well as in fellowship exchange programs and research training mechanisms.
