Seq# 260 - Jimmy Steele: His Impact in Epidemiology on Oral Health Care Policy and Delivering Dental Care

This session will be recorded and available through IADR CE On Demand after the meeting for Continuing Education Credit.

This symposium uses examples from the UK National Adult, Childrens dental health surveys and life course epidemiology to illustrate the changes in dental need and the impact of these changes to delivery models. In this way the impact of epidemiological research on national health care delivery will be outlined. The use of reseach informed national policy changes will be examined in a international context to outline the impact that basic and life course epidemiological resarch can have on national and international health policy in a dental context.

Learning Objectives:

  • To appreciate the role of dental epidemiology in oral health trends over time.
  • To understand the process of bridging epidemiological data with oral helath policy.
  • To understand social inequalities in oral health and the contribution of life course epidemiology.
